There is an ebony ripple border above the base and ebony corner angles inlaid with brass.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify; margin: 0cm 12.6pt 0pt 9pt;"><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="mso-tab-count: 1;">       </span>The very fine 8-day, hour striking movement has 5 finely turned baluster pillars, anchor escapement, shaped and footed plates, a pendulum holdfast and above pendulum regulation with a rating scale. Both the backplate and pendulum bob have a finely engraved border.</span></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 15.75pt;"><span style="line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">The flat topped hood has a fret, side windows, barley twist columns and flower and foliage marquetry around the door. The long trunk door has applied ½ round edging, a glass lenticle, and is divided up with 3 marquetry panels. There is a square panel of marquetry on the base, which sits on bun feet.<br /><br />Note: The attractive bird flower and foliage marquetry retains some of its original colour.</span></span></p>

The 10 3/4 </span></span><span style="line-height: 115%; font-size: 12pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">??? dial has winged cherub head spandrels, fine hands, ringed winding holes, daon-marquetryte aperture with engraved decoration and is signed on the chapter ring <em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">“Tho Johnson, London”.</em><br /><br /></span></span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 115%; font-family: ">Thomas Johnson worked at Ratcliffe Cross between 1680 and 1705; several longcase clocks are recorded by him, one of which had a month duration movement and one with a 1¼ second pendulum.</span></p>

The long trunk door has ½ round beaded edging and a glass lenticle, and the base sits on bun feet. The decoration on the case is parquetry panels made of contrasting ebony and sycamore wood with olivewood oysters between. On the sides are larger olivewood oysters laid in crossbanded panels.<br /><em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Note: This is a most attractive case.<br /></em><br /><span style="mso-tab-count: 1;">            </span>The 8-day movement has 5 finely turned pillars, anchor escapement, good wheelwork, and strikes the hours on a bell via an outside countwheel. It has a most attractive 9 ¾ in</span><span style="line-height: 115%; font-family: "> square dial with cherubs head spandrels, narrow chapter and seconds dials, date aperture, a whole dial engraved border, and is signed on the dial below 6.<br /><br /></span></p>
